1. Who We Are

Safarico is a tour booking service based in Madeira, Portugal. Our registered address is Caminho Velho do Foro 29, Estreito de Câmara de Lobos, Madeira 9325-055. For any privacy-related enquiries, please contact us at safaricobook@gmail.com.

2. What Data We Collect

When you submit a booking request through our website, we collect the following personal information:

  • Full name
  • Email address
  • Phone or WhatsApp number
  • Pickup location or hotel name
  • Any additional notes you choose to provide (e.g. mobility needs, children, timing preferences)

We also collect the tour name, preferred date, start time, and number of guests as part of your booking request.

If you accept marketing cookies, Meta also receives browser and device information (including your IP address), cookie identifiers, page URLs and events such as tour views, WhatsApp link clicks and successful enquiry submissions. We do not send the names, contact details, pickup locations or notes entered in our booking forms through our Pixel integration.

3. Why We Collect Your Data

We process your personal data for the following purposes:

  • To process your booking request— We use your details to confirm availability, arrange pickup logistics, and communicate with you about your tour.
  • To send booking notifications— We send email confirmations and updates related to your booking request.
  • With your consent, to measure advertising— We use Meta Pixel events to understand which Instagram and Facebook ads lead to enquiries, improve our campaigns and support relevant advertising. The legal basis for this marketing processing is your consent (GDPR Article 6(1)(a)).

The legal basis for processing your booking request is the performance of a contract (GDPR Article 6(1)(b)) and our legitimate interest in providing and improving our services (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)).

4. How We Store Your Data

Your booking details are sent to SafariCo by email so the owner can review your request and contact you directly.

5. Who We Share Your Data With

We share your data only with the following third-party services, strictly for the purposes described above:

  • Resend— transactional email delivery for booking notifications
  • Vercel— website hosting and cookieless website analytics, including page visits and enquiry events.
  • Meta Platforms Ireland Limited— advertising measurement through the Meta Pixel, only after you accept marketing cookies. Meta may associate these events with your Facebook or Instagram account and process data outside the EEA. See Meta's Privacy Policy for its processing, retention and international transfer safeguards.

We do not sell or rent your personal data. Marketing-related sharing with Meta takes place only with your consent, as described here.

6. Data Retention

We retain your booking data for as long as necessary to fulfil the purpose for which it was collected, typically for a period of 24 months after your last interaction with us. After this period, your data will be securely deleted or anonymized unless we are required by law to retain it for longer.

7. Your Rights Under GDPR

As a data subject under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the following rights:

  • Right of access— You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to rectification— You can ask us to correct any inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Right to erasure— You can request that we delete your personal data.
  • Right to data portability— You can request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Right to restrict processing— You can ask us to limit how we use your data.
  • Right to object— You can object to the processing of your data based on legitimate interests.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Portuguese data protection authority (CNPD — Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados) if you believe your rights have been violated.

8. Cookies and Your Choices

Marketing cookies are off by default. The Meta Pixel loads only after you choose to accept marketing cookies. You can reject them and still browse the website, contact us and request a booking.

Meta may set first-party cookies such as _fbp (browser identification) and _fbc (advertising click attribution). These cookies normally last up to 90 days and may be renewed during later visits with consent. See Meta's Cookie Policy.

We remember your acceptance or rejection in your browser's local storage for 180 days. You can use the Cookie settings button at the bottom left of any public page to change your choice or withdraw consent. Withdrawal stops further Pixel tracking and removes the Meta cookies set on our domain; the page may reload to unload the tracking script. It does not undo data already sent with consent. Clearing browser storage also resets your choice.

Our Vercel website analytics do not use advertising cookies. Essential storage used to remember your privacy choice and secure staff sessions is separate from optional marketing tracking.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
