West Madeira

Service Description

We start this incredible adventure through the island's west side by driving along scenic roads that showcase the beauty of Madeira’s agricultural landscapes. Our first stop is the iconic Cabo Girão viewpoint, with its glass platform suspended over 580 meters above a dramatic cliff — an authentic thrill to start the day. We then take a local farming road through the Quinta Grande area. Along the way, your guide will share insights about the cultivation of potatoes, sugarcane, cabbage, loquats, and other exotic fruits visible as we drive. Next, we arrive at the Ribeira Brava viewpoint, offering a clear view of the route we’ll take across the island — the perfect spot for a visual explanation of our journey. The adventure continues towards Serra de Água, a charming valley where we'll stop at a typical bar known for its traditional poncha — a drink beloved by locals for both its flavor and its unique preparation method. After the break, we head to São Vicente, hearing local stories and legends from your guide. We then follow the coastal road, filled with hidden gems, to the spectacular Véu da Noiva waterfall viewpoint. After a brief stop for photos and sightseeing, we pass the impressive black sand beach of Seixal on our way to the highlight of the day — Porto Moniz. Here, you'll have free time for a swim in the famous natural lava pools, followed by a delicious local lunch with a sea view. Our journey continues to Ribeira da Janela, where we connect to a unique road with breathtaking views leading to the mystical Fanal forest — known for its magical atmosphere and ancient trees often shrouded in mist. We’ll pause here to explore this enchanting spot before heading to Paul da Serra, the flattest area on the island. To finish the day, we descend along a safe and smooth off-road trail offering surreal views — as if driving through the clouds — before reaching the village of Ponta do Sol for the return journey.
