  • “Andre's tour was both insightful and charming... or maybe that's all the poncha talking? Haha. For me, the highlight was the local bar he took us to: completely off the tourist path, filled with friendly regulars, his recipe for delicious poncha and tasty little side dishes. While the storm stopped us from fully enjoying the miradouro views, we were blessed with an incredibly rare snowfall at the peak! Who coulda imagined that?? Andre was honest and responsive throughout the drive, answering all our questions openly... while carefully maneuvering across tiny roads and dodging traffic. AND still attentive enough to spot his uncle, father and other family members dotted around the island along the way! He's a true son of the island, and what a welcome to the island! Do we do both wine tasting and the bird zoo?

How does this differ from the private four-hour tour?

The six-hour option adds more time, your choice of wine tasting or the exotic bird zoo, and a restaurant lunch stop. The four-hour private tour is a shorter custom route focused on viewpoints, scenic roads and local places. Lunch is not included in the six-hour tour price.

Is hotel pickup in Funchal included?

Yes. Pickup in Funchal is included. Pickups outside Funchal have an additional fee.

When do I pay?

You pay in person on the day of the tour. Nothing is charged online when you send a request.

Can I request a German-speaking guide?

Yes, but German-speaking guides are limited and are not available on every departure. Request German guiding when you enquire and wait for our confirmation for your date.

Can you pick us up near Funchal cruise port?
