For me, the highlight was the local bar he took us to: completely off the tourist path, filled with friendly regulars, his recipe for delicious poncha and tasty little side dishes. While the storm stopped us from fully enjoying the miradouro views, we were blessed with an incredibly rare snowfall at the peak! Who coulda imagined that?? Andre was honest and responsive throughout the drive, answering all our questions openly... while carefully maneuvering across tiny roads and dodging traffic. Is this a wild-birdwatching tour?

The bird experience is a visit to Ilha das Aves, an exotic bird zoo in Campanário. The rest of the route combines jeep sightseeing, local culture and viewpoints; it is not a guided search for wild birds.

Does the tour also stop at Cabo Girão?

Yes. Cabo Girão and Câmara de Lobos are planned stops, together with Boca dos Namorados above Nuns’ Valley and Levada do Norte. Allow around six hours, including time for a restaurant lunch that is paid separately.

Is hotel pickup in Funchal included?

Yes. Pickup in Funchal is included. Pickups outside Funchal have an additional fee.

When do I pay?

You pay in person on the day of the tour. Nothing is charged online when you send a request.

Can I request a German-speaking guide?
